신자유주의, 넘쳐 나는 물질, 거대한 자본과 권력 앞에 자신의 자리를 찾지 못하고 방황하는 모습, 삶을 관망하는 두 눈, 일상의 무게에 내려앉은 어깨, 때론 작은 것에 행복해하는 모습과 매순간을 충실히 살아가고자 하는 정직함이 묻어있는 가슴과 손, 그들의 모습을 나의 작업 속에 담아보고자 한다. 다만 이 땅에 태어난 한 인간으로써 서로를 존중하고 서로에 대한 예의를 지켜가며 상식이 통하는 세상을 담고 그 개인들의 삶을 애정 어린 시선으로 따뜻하게 보듬어 오롯이 나의 작업 속에 녹여내고자 한다.

나의 작업 속에서는 다양한 삶의 모습을 만날 수가 있다. 웃고 슬프고 행복하고 불안하고 무표정한 모습들, 현실을 다양한 각도로 받아들이는 표정이나 눈빛, 행동들 그러한 모습들을 통해 삶에 대한 소중함과 생명의 존귀함을 다시 한 번 강조 이야기 하고 싶다.

그러하므로 보는 이들에게 물질과 자본, 이념이 전부가 아닌 현대 사회의 주인공이 바로 그 자신과 이웃임을 발견하고 행복한 미소를 머금기를 바란다.

I‘m reaching out to those who have tried to find satisfaction in just wealth and capital. To those whose eyes have become glazed over to what is going on around them. To those whose shoulders are left sagging by the burden of their daily lives. Working furiously just to stay on the path and trying to find what happiness they can even in the smallest things.

Although there is no exact meaning or concept to my work I have tried to create a world in my work where respect, decency and common sense prevail.

In the works I have created, you will encounter many different faces and emotions. I have tried to emphasize the importance of life and value of life through the emotions my works portray. Emotions like excitement, depression, pleasure, anxiousness and impassiveness all incredible and miraculous in their own ways.

I hope you find it to be a pleasant journey as you persue my work. And as I finish, I would like to leave you with this one thought. That life is what we make of it and that only you can truly decide what direction it takes, and not society with its ideas of wealth and materialism.
