작가노트 (Artist statement)

강민성

“맨 처음 달항아리를 보았을 때 말로 표현할 수 없는 강한 힘을 느꼈다. 그저 나도 만들어보고 싶고, 가져보고싶고, 궁금하였다. 그래서 나만의 것을 찾으려 만들기 시작했다.”

본 작업은 조선 달항아리의 의미와 그 미감을 유리공예의 기법과 접목하여 새로운 조형언어로 표현하고자 하는 의지에서 출발하였다.

이를 통해 보다 폭넓은 작업의 표현이 가능해 질것이고, 두 재료가 가지는 특성, 달항아리의 단아한 아름다움과 그 의외의 것을 이끌어 낼 수 있을 것이라 판단하였다.

This work started with the intention of combining the meaning and the aesthetic sense of the moon jar, characteristic of the Joseon Dynasty, with the technique of glass crafts to express it in a new formative language.

Through this, it would be possible to convey a wider range of works, and to derive the characteristics of the two materials, the elegant beauty of this moon jar and other unexpected aspects.
